My participation in the American Society for Engineering Education consisted of three presentations on undergraduate research, peer mentoring at a community college and women leadership at a national contest. ASEE was in Montreal Canada in June 2025.
This event creates a unique space for learning, networking, and collaboration among peers who understand the joys and pressures of academic life. Whether you’re early in your academic career or looking for renewed direction, the Belonging Symposium will equip you with actionable takeaways, foster collaborations and feedback for future submissions and promote SWE resources such as ALWE, WIA, SWE membership and WE conferences to support your professional growth. The event was held June 04, 2025.
My participation in the American Educational Research Association in April 2025 in Denver, Colorado with three paper presentations: "Latinx STEM mentors’ perceptions, knowledge, and practices at a Hispanic-Serving Institution," "Mentoring impact on the academic and personal journeys of Latinx students," and "Students Supporting Students: A Mixed-Methods Study Evaluating Peer Mentoring at a Community College."
Dr. Maryanne Long and I were invited by HACU to talk about our research at a Hispanic-Serving Institution. This webinar addressed teaching, mentoring, and learning practices. I participated in the CIMER Train-the-Trainers Workshop: Facilitating Entering Mentoring at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on July 2024. The Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) seeks to improve the research mentoring relationships for mentees and mentors at all career stages through the development, implementation, and study of evidence-based and culturally-responsive interventions.

I joined an event organized by HACU, where we learned tips and strategies about how to write better grants. We were encouraged to share our ideas and receive feedback from professionals with experience in grant writing and who have been grant awardees. This grant writing workshop was part of the 37th annual conference held in October 2023 in Chicago, Illinois.

El Consejo Mexicano de Ciencias Sociales organized the 5th National week of the Social Sciences, a virtual event with the participation of researchers and practitioners. My presentation was about the Challenges of the Qualitative Research. The even was held in October 2022.
The Research-Oriented Learning Experiences (ROLE) in Engineering Program seeks to contribute to the educational equity and research initiatives of Latino/a college students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The STEM for all Video Showcase was held in May 2022
